There are hundreds of ski clubs across Canada who groom many trails for the public to use. Find your local
and ask them for the closest trail to you! These trails can range from a loop in the park, to an extensive network of trails at a nordic facility. If you are up for an adventure or love traveling, check out the list we came up with for some of the best places to cross country ski in Canada!
Canmore is located in the mountains about an hour outside of Calgary
and is the home to the training grounds of Canada’s national biathlon and
ski teams. The facility was built for the 1988 Olympics and has hosted many
world cup events since then. It is an excellent facility with hundreds of kilometers
of very wide trails. Some popular trails even have multiple classic tracks to allow
people to socialize on the trail, as well as controls traffic, allowing everyone to
go their own speed. There is also a wide variety of terrain types, from gradual
hills to long, steep inclines so that everyone at every skiing level can be
challenged.

The small tourist village of Whistler is buried deep in
the heart of the British Columbia’s Rocky Mountains. This location packs a
wonderful view of the surrounding mountains and beautiful village.
There are over 160 kilometers of groomed trails, 32 kilometers of which
are located just outside of the village, while the rest is located in
the Callaghan Valley who hosted the venue for the
2010 Vancouver Olympics. This is an amazing facility
that offers ski lessons, rentals, snowshoe and dog friendly trails
so that everyone can participate and have fun.

Prince Albert National Park is a beautiful landscape of rolling hills,
crystal clear lakes, and magnificent scenery. There are approximately 56 kilometers
of trails located right beside Waskesiu Lake in the townsite, although there
are about 100 more kilometers of trail connected to, or just outside of the park.
It is a relatively uncrowded place in winter, allowing someone to find peace and quiet while
escaping many of our chaotic lives. The facility also has 6 warm-up shacks on some of the
longer trails so that you can extend your skiing excursion to another day, or just to pop-in
so you can warm your fingers. All around, it is a wonderful place to spend a weekend skiing.

This is park is home to an abundance of wildlife and stunning scenery, making it one of Ontario’s
most beautiful parks and is located right on the Canadian Shield. They have over 110 kilometers of trail,
including three groomed trails and one backcountry wilderness trail. Most of the trails have multiple loops of varying
distances and difficulties to challenge everyone, while some of the longer trails have multiple warm-up cabins.
The park consistently groom their trails on a regular basis, giving them the reputation of some of the best trails in all of Ontario.

Mont-Sainte-Anne boasts some of the nicest ski trails in Canada, as well as the
biggest cross country ski center in Canada. They are one of the top ranked ski centers in all of
North America, falling right behind the Royal Gorge Center in California.
Their trails are groomed to exceptional quality, extending over 200 kilometers in length, while
191 kilometers of which are groomed for skating technique. There are a total of seven beautiful
heated shelters distributed amongst the trail network, each with a unique view of the surrounding area.
For skiers who wish to stay for the night on the trail, three of the seven shelters can accommodate small
groups of people, just be sure to bring a sleeping bag to stay warm at night! There is also a seven
kilometer trail connecting the cross country ski area to an alpine ski resort, allowing for a perfect
transition for skiers who want to participate in both types of skiing throughout the day.
